Men's Soccer Listed Second in Recent NSCAA Top-25 Tally
KANSAS CITY, Kan. (Sept. 17, 2013) - On Tuesday, the LIU Post men's soccer team, which has won four straight to begin the year, moved up in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Top-25 Poll once again, and is now ranked second in the country.
One of only two East Coast Conference squads to appear in the tally this week, the Pioneers were joined by Mercy, which debuted at No. 24 after a 3-0 start.
LIU Post defeated both of its opponents last week in late fashion at Bridgeport's Purple Knight Classic. On Thursday, the Pioneers tallied three goals in the last 17:56 to edge now 21st-ranked Wilmington by a 3-1 count.
Then, on Saturday, the green and gold's Eivind Austboe (Stavanger, Norway) got the go-ahead marker in the 77th minute, en route to a 2-0 triumph over Bloomfield.
Individually, Austboe presently leads all of NCAA Division II in scoring with 14 points (5 G, 4 A). He is also third in total goals, fourth in total assists, sixth in points per game (3.5), seventh in assists per game (1.0), and 10th in goals per game (1.25).
Head Coach Andreas Lindberg's Pioneers return to the pitch Wednesday (Sept. 18), when they kick off ECC play in Brookhaven, N.Y. at Dowling. Action is set to begin from Golden Lions Field at 7 p.m.
