Women's Tennis Falls To Roberts Wesleyan, 6-3
PITTSFORD, N.Y. (Sept. 13, 2013) - In the second match of the season, the LIU Post women's tennis team dropped an East Coast Conference clash against Roberts Wesleyan by a score of 6-3.
LIU Post drops to 0-2 on the season, while Roberts Wesleyan improves to 4-0.
The three wins for the Pioneers came in singles competition. In the No. 1 singles spot, sophomore
Lucie Chrastecka (Karlovy ,Vary, Czech Republic) beat the Redhawks' Tina Miller by counts of 6-2 and 6-3. Freshman
Heena Kewalramani (Bangkok, Thailand) secured a straight-set win (7-5, 6-3) over Maria Jiminez in the second spot. RWC's Fatima Quattara took the third flight, 6-0 and 6-1, against freshman
Laura Harwell (Alabaster, Ala.). Picking up the final win for the Pioneers was sophomore
Amanda Gaimaro (Lynbrook, N.Y.), who defeated Emily Linhart, 6-4, 6-3. RWC's Kaitlyn Zaffuto and Julia Vitale secured the final two singles victories over sophomores
Jovana Djurdjevic (New York, N.Y.) and
Teresa Ndong (Madrid, Spain), respectively.
