Carberry Named All Met Co-Player of the Year

NEW YORK (April 11, 2013) – Tobin Carberry of LIU Post and Leon Porter of Dominican have been named All Met Division II men's college basketball Co-Players of the Year by the Met Basketball Writers Association.
 
Joe Clinton of Dominican was named Coach of the Year for a second time.
 
The rest of the All Met First Team: Antoine Obery, Felician; John Petrucelli, Molloy; Argelix Gil, Concordia; Cory Quimby, Dominican.
 
The Second Team: Vaughn Allen, LIU Post; Marvin Williams, Bloomfield; Justin Brown, St. Thomas Aquinas; Joseph Pope, Mercy; Patrick Parker, Queens; Norman Pope, Concordia.
 
The All Met teams will be honored April 15 at the 80th NIT/MBWA Haggerty Awards dinner at the Westchester Marriott, Tarrytown, NY.
 
A 6-foot-2 senior guard from Hamden, CT, Carberry led the East Coast Conference with 18.6 points per game, along with total points, field goals and 3-point goals. He also had 5.8 rebounds. Carberry put up double digits in every game he played this season, along with 20-plus points 14 times. He shot 45.7% from the field, including 39.9% beyond the arc. He ranks in the top 10 on the Pioneers' all time scoring list (1,244 points), shooting 45.9% for his career. Carberry was named ECC Player of the Year.
