Kwok Named 200-Yard Butterfly National Champion!!!
BIRMINGHAM, ALA. (March 8, 2013) – Freshman
Joyce Kwok (Middle Village, N.Y.) was named National Champion of the 200-yard butterfly after she finished the final race with a time of 2:00.28 on Day Three of the 2013 Swimming & Diving National Championships.
This marks Kwok's second individual All-American Honors along with the National Championship she won as part of the 400-yard medley relay team.
Also on Day Three,
Tamara Garriock (Duncan, British Columbia, Canada) finished 12
th overall in the 500-yard freestyle, good for fourth place in the consolation final with a time of 4:58.95.
In the 100-yard backstroke, sophomore
Johanna Pettersson (Kungalv, Sweden) grabbed her first individual All-America Honors by placing fourth. She finished with a time of 55.53, marking a new team record. Also competing in the preliminaries for the event were freshmen
Seren Jones (Cardiff, Wales, United Kingdom) and
Meghan Brazier (West Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada). The duo finished with times of 57.41 and 59.46, respectively.
After Day Three, the Pioneers retained the fifth place spot in the team rankings with 164 points. Drury University held onto first place with 295.5 total points.
