Field Hockey Retains Fifth Spot in NFHCA Top-10 Poll
CHANDLER, Ariz. (Oct. 8, 2013) - On Tuesday, the National Field Hockey Coaches Association, along with Penn Monto, released its weekly Division II Top-10 rankings, and LIU Post continued to occupy the fifth spot for the fourth-straight week.
The Pioneers are coming off another perfect week, this time two Northeast-10 wins at Assumption (3-0) and a double-overtime thriller against Merrimack (4-3). The continued success gave LIU Post 100 points in this week's poll.
The Top-5 spots remained the same for the third-straight week with Shippensburg holding on to the top spot with a perfect 10-0 record, and 14 of the 17 first-place votes, giving them 167 points. Millersville, also unbeaten at 8-0, picked up the final three first-place votes and a total of 150 points, good for second on the list. West Chester and Stonehill remained in the third and fourth spots with 132, and 119, respectively.
In the bottom half of the census, Bloomsburg (62 points) and East Stroudsburg (50 points) swapped spots, as the Warriors dropped to seventh after falling to WCU. Limestone (35 points) and Bentley (32 points) remained in the eighth and ninth spots, and newcomer Merrimack joins the poll tied with the Falcons with 32 points in the final slot.
