Margiotta, Stocklin Nab Weekly NE-10 Field Hockey Kudos
SOUTH EASTON, Mass. (Oct. 21, 2013) - Following a three-win week, LIU Post field hockey sophomore forward Keliann Margiotta (Sewell, N.J.) was named the Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week Monday, while freshman cageminder Meredith Stocklin (Mount Laurel, N.J.) earned top goalkeeper honors from the league.
Margiotta racked up 10 points (4 G, 2 A) between the three contests to lead all Pioneer scorers. She also notched one game-winner, which occurred 3:54 into the extra session in a 2-1 overtime triumph versus East Stroudsburg last Monday. Three days later, the Sewell, N.J. native posted a seven-point output (3 G, 1 A) against Adelphi, and broke the LIU Post single-season assist record in the process.
For the year, Margiotta is currently the green and gold's second-leading point-getter with 44 (15 G, 14 A). Her 14 helpers rank first on the nation's, and NE-10's statistical leaderboards.
Between the pipes, Stocklin posted a 3-0 mark, alongside a 0.65 goals-against average, and an .857 save percentage. She stopped a season-high seven shots last Monday, before registering three, and two saves, respecitvely, in subsequent tilts versus Adelphi and Saint Michael's.
Overall, Stocklin is now 7-0 on the season, with NCAA Division II second-best clips of a 0.76 GAA, and an .812 save percentage. Her goals-against average is tops in the conference as well.
Margiotta, Stocklin and the Pioneers are back at it Tuesday (Oct. 23), when they square off with Mercy in a non-conference tilt at Hickox Field in Brookville, N.Y. Action is slated for a 4 p.m. start.
