NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (Oct. 12, 2013) - Twelve first-place finishes, including three from senior Tamara Garriock (Duncan, British Columbia, Canada), led to the LIU Post women's swimming team overwhelming Central Connecticut State, 165-94, Saturday afternoon at the Jack Suydam Natatorium in New Britain, Conn.

Along with her three individual wins, Garriock was also a member of the LIU Post 200-yard medley relay "A" team that took first place with a time of 1:47.85 in the first event of the afternoon. Also on the relay were junior Johanna Pettersson (Kungalv, Sweden) and sophomores Joyce Kwok (Middle Village, N.Y.) and Meghan Brazier (West Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada)

The Pioneer "B" squad took second-place in the event with a time of 1:51.78. Members of this relay team were sophomores Seren Jones (Cardiff, Wales, United Kingdom) and Marthe Soerensen (Stavanger, Norway), senior Chelcee Hew (Savage, Minn.), and junior Courtney Delehanty (Oceanport, N.J.).

In the other relay event of the day, the 400-yard freestyle relay, Soerensen, Delehanty, Jones, and Brazier teamed up to secure the first-place victory with a time of 3:40.97.

Garriock's three first-place finishes came in the 200-yard individual medley and 100- and 200-yard breaststrokes. In the 200 IM, Garriock slapped the wall after a time of 1:07.29, just barely edging out Pettersson, who finished with a time of 2:09.57, replacing Hew for fifth on the Pioneer Top-5 Times. Garriock's clockings of 1:07.29 and 2:26.46 in the breaststroke events bested Hew's second-place times of 1:10.30 and 2:33.63 in the events.

In the 100- and 200-yard backstroke events, Pettersson came out on top with times of 58.70, and 2:04.73, respectively. Brazier was second to Pettersson in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 59.62, while Kwok followed Pettersson in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:07.96.

Also registering two individual first-place finishes was Kwok in the butterfly events. Her time of 2:04.39 was also good for a 'B' cut time in the 200-yard butterfly.

Brazier added a first-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 54.02, while junior Malin Hedberg (Vasteras, Sweden) captured the final first-place finish for the Pioneers with her time of 5:22.05 in the 500-yard freestyle.
