No. 1 Men's Soccer Turns Back Bridgeport, 3-0

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (Oct. 12, 2013) - On Saturday, the top-ranked LIU Post men's soccer team recorded its 12th-consecutive win, defeating Bridgeport, 3-0, at Knights Field in Bridgeport, Conn. Freshman forward
Johann Kristjansson (Reykjavik, Iceland) tallied the deciding marker with 2:49 left in the opening half.
Kristjansson got LIU Post (12-0, 5-0 ECC) on the scoreboard first, via their lone shot on goal of the first period. Senior forward
Cemil Turan (Staten Island, N.Y.) picked up the assist. after sending a through ball, off a long run, to the middle of the 18-yard box for Kristjansson.
Bridgeport (4-5, 3-2 ECC) nearly tied up the score, however, before the end of the stanza. Sophomore forward Luis Fajardo (Danbury, Conn.) hit the crossbar at the 39-second mark. The Purple Knights finished the contest with a 14-12 shot advantage.
Early into the second half, the Pioneers doubled up on their lead. Junior forward
Eivind Austboe (Stavanger, Norway) found the back of the goal, off a corner kick by senior back
Eirik Bjoernoe (Randaberg, Norway). The tally for Austboe was his 16th of 2013.
In the 81st minute, sophomore midfielder
Per Forgaard (Stavanger, Norway) capped off the scoring. He ripped an 18-yard shot from the top of box into the mesh.
Between the pipes, senior goalie
Marco Jorgensen (Copenhagen, Denmark) registered two saves for LIU Post. On the other hand, junior Agustin Prados (Madrid, Spain) made four stops for Bridgeport.
