SOUTH EASTON, Mass. (Sept. 30, 2013) - On Monday, the Northeast-10 Conference handed out its weekly field hockey awards, and LIU Post senior forward Carlee Dragon (Bridgewater, N.J.) was dubbed the player of the week, while freshman goalie Ericka Parks (Nesconset, N.Y.) landed rookie of the week honors.

Dragon, the nation's second-leading scorer, and Parks helped the fifth-ranked Pioneers to a pair of wins last week, as LIU Post defeated Southern Connecticut State (8-2) and Franklin Pierce (4-0) by decisive scores. The green and gold are off to their best start in program history (7-0), and sit atop the NE-10 standings with a league clip of 2-0.

Dragon recorded 11 points, on four goals and three assists, which raised her team-leading point total to 29 (11 G, 7 A) on the year. She posted an impressive 10-point effort (4 G, 2 A) in an 8-2 win versus SCSU on Wednesday, and followed that Friday with an assist at Franklin Pierce.

For her career, Dragon now sports totals of 62 goals and 146 points. She is three goals, and one point off the pace of becoming the school's all-time career leader in those statistical categories.

Parks played 105 minutes in the cage on the week, and never allowed a goal. She also made five saves in the process, three of which came in her first collegiate shutout Friday versus Franklin Pierce. For the year, Parks sports a 4-0 record with a 0.31 goals-against average and an .875 save percentage.

Dragon, Parks and the Pioneers return to action Tuesday (Oct. 1) at Assumption in Worcester, Mass. The contest is slated for a 7 p.m. start.
