Turan Tabbed as ECC Player of the Week
CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Sept. 24 ,2012) - The East Coast Conference released its weekly awards, and junior forward
Cemil Turan (Staten Island, N.Y.) was selected as the men's soccer Player of the Week, it was announced earlier today.
Turan scored four goals and added an assist to lead the Pioneers to a 2-0 record. He scored the game-winner in both games, registering two goals and assisting on another in a 4-1 victory over Dowling, then added two more scores in a 3-2 victory over Roberts Wesleyan.
This past week saw the LIU Post men's soccer team add another two games to its win streak, which now stands a eight games to open the season. Recently ranked third in the NSCAA National poll and first in the East Region standings, the Pioneers (8-0, 3-0) defeated both Dowling and Roberts Wesleyan this week by scores of 4-1 and 3-2. Turan led the way with four goals and an assist, and
Per Forgaard (Stavanger, Norway) added a goal and an assist. LIU Post is off for one week, traveling to St. Thomas Aquinas for a Saturday matchup for their only contest of the week.
