Men's Soccer Up Five Spots to 17th in NSCAA Poll
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Sept. 12, 2012) - Currently sporting a 4-0 record, head coach
Andreas Lindberg's LIU Post men's soccer team moved up five spots in this week's National Soccer Coaches Association of American (NSCAA) weekly Division II poll, currently holding the 17th spot in the poll.
The Pioneers are joined in the poll by East Region members Southern New Hampshire, who has the third spot, and Frankling Pierce, currenlty No. 6. The Pioneers are also joined by Mercy, an East Coast Conference rival and newcomer to the poll as they debut at No. 24.
Lindberg's squad improved to 4-0 on the season with two wins last week.
Eivind Austboe and
Bas Beverwijk led the offense with two goals apiece while
Eirik Bjoernoe registerd three assists. Defensively, the Pioneers held the opposition to only one goal while
Marco Jorgensen made seven saves on the week and posted one shutout. LIU Post will look to continue its winning ways this week as it hosts Nyack in the home opener on Wednesday, followed by a trip to UDC on Saturday.
