Women's Swimming Grabs Second Place Finish At TCNJ Invite

EWING, N.J. (Dec. 2, 2012) – The LIU Post women's swim team grabbed a second place finish out of six competing teams at The College of New Jersey Invite this weekend. The Pioneers racked up a total of 932.5 points over the three day event behind first place finishes in five relays and seven individual events.
Over the three day span, five new team records were established.
Sandra Luiga (Jarfalls, Sweden) broke her previous record in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:34.46.
Johanna Pettersson (Kungalv, Sweden) broke the previous Pioneer record in the 200-yard backstroke with a NCAA “B” cut time of 2:01.68.
Tamara Garriock (Duncan, British Columbia, Canada) finished the 200-yard individual medley in a 'B' cut time of 2:05.06 to set the new team record in the event. Pettersson, Garriock,
Joyce Kwok (Middle Village, N.Y.), and
Marthe Soerensen (Stavanger, Norway) made up the squad that finished first in the 400-yard medley relay in a 'B' cut time of 3:48.80 to grab the all-time Pioneer best time.
Angelica Norrena (Solna, Sweden) teamed up with Kwok, Soerensen, and Garriock to take first place in the 800-yard freestyle relay with an all-time Pioneer-best 'B' cut time of 7:36.99.
Another first place relay team for the Pioneers was the 200-yard medley relay team made up of Pettersson, Garriock, Kwok, and
Meghan Brazier (West Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada) who slapped the wall with a 'B' cut time of 1:45.57. The group of Kwok, Soerensen, Garriock, and Brazier won the 200-yard freestyle relay, finishing the event with a 'B' cut time of 1:35.54.
Courtney Delehanty (Oceanport, N.J.), along with Brazier, Garriock, and Brazier finished the 400-yard freestyle relay in first place with a time of 3:29.72.
Brazier was able to grab two individual first place finishes along with her participation in three relay teams that snagged first place. She finished first in both the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle events with 'B' cut times of 24.00 and 51.91, respectively.
Garriock, who was a part of five all five Pioneer relay teams that finished in first, also snatched two individual first place finishes. She swam the 200-yard breaststroke in a 'B' cut time of 2:20.29 along with her team record finish in the 200-yard individual medley.
