The Pioneers improve to 16-7 overall and 13-3 in conference play, while Dowling slips to 5-16, 5-11 in ECC action.

The Pioneers jumped out to a 4-0 lead, but Dowling quickly answered with a 5-0 run to erase the advantage and take the only lead the Golden Lions would see during the game, 5-4.   The visitors quickly found their offensive tempo as they pushed out to a double-digit lead, 19-9, with 11:15 remaining in the first half.

C.W. Post continued to keep the offensive pressure on and grew its lead to as many as 17 points with two minutes to play in the half, but Dowling chipped away and trimmed the deficit to 11 points at the halftime break.

Dowling started off the second half by forcing a steal and hitting a three pointer, then forcing another Pioneer turnover, grabbing a steal and converting a layup, trimming the C.W. Post lead to six points, 45-39 with 18:32 remaining. C.W. Post responded immediately with a 13-0 run capped by a Bonneau layup that gave the Pioneers a 58-39 at 14:44.

C.W. Post would not allow Dowling to get any closer than 12 points the remainder of the contest, holding off the Golden Lions for the win while maintaining pace with Bridgeport and Queens for first place in the conference.

Kohler's 18 points came off 7-14 shooting from the field, while Bonneau was a nearly perfect 7-8 from the floor. Senior forward Aaron Hall (Syracuse, N.Y.) pulled down 14 rebounds to pace C.W. Post, who also got nine assists from senior guard Gil Montalvo (Astoria, N.Y.).

C.W. Post shot a collective 45.3% from the floor, making 24-53 attempts and 7-22 from three-point range. A 20-22 showing from the charity stripe rounded out the evening for the visitors, who held a 46-40 advantage on the glass.

The Pioneers continue ECC play on Saturday as they host neighboring NYIT in a battle for bragging rights among the Northern Boulevard rivals, tipping off at 3:30 p.m.
