Hall's 22 Points Lead Men's Basketball to 77-65 Victory Over Molloy

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Feb. 16, 2010) – Senior forward Aaron Hall (Syracuse, N.Y.) scored a game-high 22 points to lead the C.W. Post men's basketball team past Molloy College, 77-65, on Wednesday evening at Quealy Gymnasuim in East Coast Conference men's basketball action.

C.W. Post improves to 18-7, 15-3 in ECC action with the victory, while Molloy slides to 8-15, 8-10 in conference play. 

The Pioneers jumped out to an 11-point lead in the first five minutes of play, and held a double-digit lead for almost the entire first half. However, with less than five minutes remaining, Molloy began to cut into the lead, and after Dariel Concha's jumper with 45 seconds  to play in the first, C.W. Post held a slim one-point lead, 37-36. Junior guard Billy Butler (Elmont, N.Y.) hit a three with 26 seconds left to give C.W. Post a four point lead, 40-36, heading into halftime. 

The Pioneers quickly increased their lead back to double-digits within four minutes of the second half, leading by 12 points, 52-40, at 16:08. For the remainder of the contest, the Pioneers led the host Lions by between 9-13 points, finishing with a 77-65 victory.

The Pioneers shot 51.7% from the floor (31-60) and 40.9% from downtown (9-22). The Pioneers only went to the line eight times, but converted 6-8 attempts. CWP outrebounded the hosts 31-28, and took much better care of the ball, with 23 assists to 11 turnovers compared to Molloy's 13-14 ratio.

Hall's 22 points came off 9-16 shooting, and the senior was joined in double figures by sophomore guard Jonathan Kohler (Bordentown, N.J.) with 18 points on 7-12 shooting. Junior guard Stefan Bonneau (Middletown, N.Y.) chipped in with 14 points. Senior playmaker Gil Montalvo (Astoria, N.Y.) dished out nine assists.

Molloy was led by John Petrucelli with 21 points, while Jimmy Nolan scored 15 and Concha added 10
points.

The Pioneers travel to St. Thomas Aquinas on Saturday for a 3:30 matchup.
