Sears' 21 Pushes Women's Basketball To 82-56 Win Over Felician

OAKDALE, N.Y. (Nov. 27, 2011) – Sophomore Kenyatta Sears (Hampton, Va.) scored both a game-high as well as a career-high 21 points to lead C.W. Post over Felician College, 82-56, in a non-conference women's basketball clash Sunday afternoon as part of the Dowling College Holiday Tournament.
 
C.W. Post improves to 5-1 overall while Felician slips to 1-4.
 
C.W. Post converted 24 of 71 from field goal range and went 29-for-35 at the line.  Felician shot 19-of-58 from the field, including 3-for-7 from long range, and was 15-for-23 from the charity stripe.
 
Felician held a 7-6 lead early in the game before Sears sank two free throws at 14:45 that spurred the Pioneers to a 14-3 run.
 
C.W. Post built its lead to as high as 15 in the first half courtesy of a long three from Spears with 3:38 to play.  The Pioneers led 40-27 at the half.
 
The Pioneers maintained their offensive dominance deep into the second half as their lead remained in double digits and climbed into the 20s with just over two minutes to play.  C.W. Post closed out the game with an 11-2 run.
 
Junior Samantha Kopp (Franklinville, N.Y.) added 14 points and eight rebounds while freshman Chelsea Williams (Copiague, N.Y.) added 10 points.  Sears also had six steals in the game.
 
Destiny Barnette led the Golden Falcons with 18 points while Trina Plummer chipped in with 12.  Mary Chisolm added 10.
 
C.W. Post returns to action when it hosts Dowling in its conference opener at home on Wednesday at 5 p.m. at the Pratt Recreation Center.
