Men's Soccer Places Five Players on Daktronics All-Region Teams

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. (Nov. 15, 2011) - The Daktronics, Inc. All-Region Teams were announced this afternoon, and four Pioneer men's soccer players earned first team and one was named to the second team.
Sophomore back
Eirik Bjoernoe (Randaberg, Norway), junior forward
Andreas Olson (Oppeid, Norway), sophomore forward
Cemil Turan (Staten Island, N.Y.) and freshman forward
Eivind Austboe (Stavanger, Norway) were named to the 2011 All-Region First, while
Marco Jorgensen (Copenhagen, Denmark) earned Second Team accolades.
Austboe and Turan teamed up together to form one fo the most formidable scoring tandems in the nation, as Austboe led the ECC in scoring with 16 goals and added two assists. Turan scored 14 goals, kicking in a conferece-high seven game-winners in the process.
Olson used his incredible speed to provide an outstanding threat on the wing, scoring six goals and dishing out a team-high 11 assists.
Bjoernoe was solid in the back, as his offensive skills provided yet another weapon for the Pioneers. He was a perfect 3-for-3 in PK's and added eight assists.
Jorgensen was 17-3-1 on the season, posting a new school record for wins in a season. He had an outstanding .845 save percentage and a 0.81 goals against average.
The Pioneers finished the season 17-3-1, winning the ECC Regular Season Title and advancing to the second round of the NCAA Regional before falling to Southern New Hampshire, 2-0.
