Carberry's 37 Points Propels Men's Basketball to Win Over Saint Rose, 97-83

Box Score ALBANY, N.Y. (Nov. 13, 2011) – The C.W. Post men's basketball team capped off its Capital Region trip with another win to improve to 2-0 to start the season.  Today's win came against the host of the tournament, Saint Rose, as the Pioneers earned a 97-83 victory. 

With less than two minutes left in the first half, the Pioneers faced a six-point deficit.  However, Tobin Carberry (Hamden, Conn.) erased the Golden Knight's lead with a 6-0 run himself in less than minute and then C.W. Post took the lead with 16 seconds left on a Vaughn Allen (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) layup.  Carberry then increased the Pioneer lead to four heading into the locker room as Terry Coleman (Newburgh, N.Y.) found Carberry off an outlet pass from a rebound with three seconds remaining. 

C.W. Post took a 39-35 lead into the half after creating 10 fast break points as well as holding a 24-14 advantage on the glass.  Carberry lead all scorers at the half with 18 to go along with 5 rebounds.  The Saint Rose offense was more spread out with Dominykas Milka leading the way with 10 points.

Carberry played the second even more impressively then he did the first as he led a Pioneer charge that increased the lead to as many as 22 during the second half.  Carberry went for an additional 19 in the second half to lead a C.W. Post offense that went 20-30 from the field, as well as 13-16 from the charity stripe. 

Leading all scorers, Carberry ended the day with a career-high of 37 points, going 14-23 from the field and 8-10 on free throw.  He also led the Pioneers with nine rebounds, as the team finished with a 36-29 advantage in rebounding over the Golden Knights.  Stefan Bonneau (Middletown, N.Y.) also connected on eight free throws of his own, finishing the game with 22 points and five assists as both him and Carberry were on the floor for all 40 minutes of action.  Allen added three steals and a block on defense to his 15 point offensive effort. 

Milka finished with 31 points for Saint Rose, leading all Golden Knight scorers.  Brian Hanuschak also had a solid night in the effort, putting together a double-double of 21 points and 10 rebounds. 

C.W. Post will be back in action on Wednesday, Nov. 16, as the team travels to Chestnut Hill for a non-conference up.  Tip-off is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start.
