No. 8 Men's Soccer Advances In NCAA Regional, Defeats Nyack 3-1

MANCHESTER, N.H. (Nov. 11, 2011) – The eighth ranked C.W. Post men's soccer team earned a program-best 17th win as the Pioneer defeated Nyack College, 3-1, in the first round of NCAA Men's Soccer Division II East Region action on Friday evening on Larkin Field.
The Pioneers improve to 17-2-1 on the season, eclipsing the 16-win mark set in 1993. Nyack ends its season at 13-6-2.
The game began on an offensive note, as both teams put up shots very quickly, but neither team managed a goal until
Eivind Austboe (Stavanger, Norway) struck for a team-leading 16th goal of the season in the 30th minute, taking a corner kick from
Eirik Bjoernoe (Randaberg, Norway) and heading it in for a 1-0 lead.
Jodell Wright scored an unassisted goal to tie the game at one apiece in the 50th minute, as he forced a deflection off goalkeeper
Marco Jorgensen (Copenhagen, Denmark) and dribbled into the box, shooting on the open net for the equalizer.
But C.W. Post struck just six minutes later as
Cemil Turan (Staten Island, N.Y.) collected his own rebound shot and sent a low liner into the lower right corner to put the Pioneers back on top, 2-1.
The Pioneers would strike again at 78:43 with an insurance goal on a corner off the foot of
Andreas Olson (Oppeid, Norway) that
William Lindberg (Gothenburg, Sweden) headed in for a 3-1 lead.
Jorgensen made five saves on the evening, while Nyack keeper Adrian Ibanez stopped nine shots. The Pioneers held a 28-15 edge in shots and owned a 13-2 advantage in corner kicks.
The third-seeded Pioneers advance to Sunday's contest against second-seeded Southern New
Hampshire. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m.
