HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (Oct. 3, 2011) – In another alumni announcement update by cross country head Rob Morris, four former women Pioneer runners participated in the Diva Half Marathon in Hempstead this past Sunday, Oct. 2.  One of those women included current assistant coach and Morris' wife, Christa Morris.

Morris finished in fourth overall, and was one of the top runners aged from 25-29 years old.  She finished the half marathon in a time of 1:24.44 to secure one of the top spots.

Kristen Sweeney, Kristin Coscia, and Irekpitan Ehikioya were all also participants in the half marathon for the age group of women between the ages of 20 ad 24 years old.  Sweeney was the first of the trio to cross the finish line, coming in 22nd overall and fourth in the age group with a time of 1:34.05.  A little more than four minutes later with a time of 1:38.58 came in Coscia for a 37th overall finish and seventh in the age group.  Ehikioya then wrapped things up with a 1:44.54 finish to land her 82nd overall and 12th in the age group.

The Diva Half Marathon course is run in the Hempstead area, having the course passing by locations such as Eisenhower Park, Nassau Coliseum, and Mitchell Field.  The event is planned again for the Long Island area on Oct.7 next year in 2012, with several other events coming up within that year time in various spots across the country as well as in Puerto Rico.
