Strong Second Half Pushes Men's Basketball Past Queens, 79-70

FLUSHING, N.Y. (Jan. 29, 2010) – The C.W. Post men's basketball team turned a halftime deadlock into a 79-70 win over Queens College for its 10th straight win on Saturday evening, led by 28 points from junior guard
Stefan Bonneau (Middletown, N.Y.).
The Pioneers shot 44% from the floor, making 26-of-59 attempts from the floor, as well as hitting 6-of-18 shots from three-point range. C.W. Post also converted 21-of-26 attempts from the floor, including 14-of-15 in the second half.
C.W. Post held a 32-26 rebounding margin, and capitalized on 18 Queens miscues for 20 points off turnovers.
The first half featured eight ties and 15 lead changes, as both teams battled back and forth and matched each other basket for basket. At halftime, the teams were tied at 32-32.
Bonneau opened the second half with a trey at 19:36 that put the Pioneers on top, and although Queens responded by tying the game three minutes later, 41-41 at 16:55, sophomore guard
Tobin Carberry (Hamden, Conn.) nailed two free throws that put C.W. Post on top for good. The Pioneers kept Queens at arm's length from the remainder of the contest, eventually stretching the lead to 12 points as the second half closed out.
Bonneau's 28 points came off of 9-19 shooting including five three's, while also grabbing a steal and dishing three assists. Sophomore guard
Jonathan Kohler (Bordentown, N.J.) chipped in with 11 points, and Carberry added nine points on the night.
Khalil McDonald paced Queens with 20 points on the evening.
