Field Hockey Shuts Out Mercyhurst, 3-0

ERIE, Pa. (Sept. 25, 2010) – The C.W. Post field hockey team posted a 3-0 shutout on the road at Mercyhurst College Saturday morning at Tullio Field.
 
C.W. Post improves to 5-1 overall while Mercyhurst dips to 1-5.
 
The Pioneers took a 1-0 lead in the first half when freshman forward Carlee Dragon (Bridgewater, N.J.) found the back of the net on a hard shot at 20:37.
 
C.W. Post added to its lead in final minutes of the second half when senior forward Amanda Nann (Hamburg, N.J.) scored her ninth goal of the season on a pass from senior midfielder Vicky DeRosa (Wading River, N.Y.) at 62:17. 
 
Sophomore forward Mia Paltrineri (Middletown, Del.) tallied her second goal of the season at 66:46 on a feed from Nann.
 
Senior Cortney Colern (Barker, N.Y.) and junior Devon Trenkle (New City, N.Y.) combined in goal to make four saves for the shutout.  Sophomore defender Kellie Finn (Goshen, Conn.) recorded her third defensive save of the season.
 
Junior goalkeeper Ashley Wiskup (Holland, N.Y.) made 10 stops in goal for the Lakers.
 
C.W. Post outshot Mercyhurst, 16-9, and had a 9-6 advantage in penalty corners.
 
C.W. Post is back in action on Sunday, Sept. 26 when it faces Slippery Rock at 11 a.m.
