Cross Country Competes At New York Relays
Randalls Island, N.Y. (April 18, 2010)- Graduate student
Vince Giambanco (Muttontown, N.Y.) took a first place finish in the 1500m event at the C.W. Post cross country team competed at the New York Relays held at ICHAN Stadium Sunday afternoon.
Freshman
Thomas Speicher (Levittown, N.Y.) finished shortly behind Giambanco in the 1500m, placing seventh with a time of 4:25.1. Freshman
David Johnson (Flushing, N.Y.) was the lone competitor for C.W. Post in the 800m, finishing in 12
th place with a time of 2:05.
Christian Altamura (Seaford, N.Y.) set a personal record in the 5000m, crossing the line at 15:38.8 in second place.
Matt O'Keefe (East Rockaway, N.Y.) finished on the heels of Altamura, taking fourth place with a time of 16:08.1 Freshman
Raymond Coyle (Woodhaven, N.Y.) and senior
Thomas Brouillard (Syosset, N.Y.) completed the race in sixth and seventh place, respectively.
On the women's side, senior
Irekpitan Ehikioya (West Hempstead, N.Y.) was the first Pioneer to cross the line in the 1500m, taking second place with a time of 5:26.23.
Kristin Coscia (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) followed closely behind, setting a new personal record with a time of 5:30.84.
Senior
Kristen Sweeney (Kennebunkport, Maine) set a new personal record in the 5000m event, crossing the line in second place with a time of 19:00.53. Freshman
Caitlin Smith (Levittown, N.Y.) finished the race in sixth place at the 20:26.82 mark, while
Erin Lusenskas (East Atlantic Beach, N.Y.) rounded out the pack in ninth place with a time of 20:58.
