Cross Country Competes In Offseason Events
BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Mar. 26, 2010)- The C.W. Post Cross Country team has continued its hard work and dedication as numerous Pioneers have competed in offseason events. Six Pioneers have clocked new personal best times during their off season training.
On January 21, four Pioneers competed at the NYC Armory Thursday Night Race. Freshman
Ray Coyle (Woodhaven, N.Y.) set a new personal record in the 1500m (4:31) and the 3000m (9:25). Teammates
Thomas Speicher (Levittown, N.Y.) and
Matthew O'Keefe (East Rockaway, N.Y.) each set personal records in the 3000m crossing the line at the 9:25 and 9:51 marks, respectively.
Erin Lusenskas (East Atlantic Beach, N.Y.) competed on the women's side, finishing the 3000m event with a time of 11:55.
Senior
Vince Giambanco (Muttontown, N.Y.) set two personal records in the offseason, the first of which came at the NYC Armory on February 11, finishing two miles with a time of 9:22. Giambanco also competed at the NYU Fastrack Invite on February 26, setting a new personal best in the 5000m event with a time of 15 minutes and 55 seconds. Freshman
Christian Altamura (Seaford, N.Y.) joined Giambanco at the NYU Fastrack, setting a personal record in the 3000m (9:02). Coyle made a mark of his own, finishing the 5000m in 16 minutes and 21 seconds, a new personal record.
Senior
Kristen Sweeney (Kennebunkport, Maine) made a showing for C.W. Post at the Harvard Invitational on January 16, completing the mile with a time of 5:36. Sweeney also participated at the NYU Fastrack, completing the 3000m in a personal best time of 11:06.
Senior
Tom Brouillard (Syosset, N.Y.) ran the two mile event at the NYC armory on February 11, along with O'Keefe and Coyle. Brouillard crossed the line at 10:51, while O'Keefe and Coyle set new personal bests with times of 10:28 and 10:18, respectively.
