Aiken Selected ECC Player Of The Year; Joyner, Marciniak Earn All-Conference Honors
CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (March 2, 2010) – Junior guard Janea Aiken (St. Albans, N.Y.) of the C.W. Post women's basketball team was selected as the 2009-10 East Coast Conference Player of the Year, as voted on by the conference coaches.
Sophomore guard Felicia Joyner (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) was named the Second Team and freshman forward Nicole Marciniak (Brooklyn, N.Y.) gained notice on the All-Rookie Team.
A five-time ECC Player of the Week selection, Aiken has led the Pioneers in scoring in 18 of their 27
games. Averaging 16.6 points per game, she is second on the ECC charts in scoring and is ranked third in field goal percentage (.462), fourth in three-point field goal percentage (.377) and sixth in assists (4.04). On eight different occasions this season, Aiken has scored twenty-plus points, as well as recording four games with 19 points and has scored in the double-digits in 23 of 27 games this season.
Joyner is second in scoring, averaging 12.8 points a game and is shooting .431 (134 of 311) from the field. Marciniak has played in all 27 games and is averaging 5.3 points and 3.5 rebounds a game. Defensively she is second in blocks with 14 and has 29 steals to her credit.
C.W. Post (19-8, 14-7 ECC) will host Queens College in the opening round of the East Coast Conference Championships on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Pratt Recreation Center.
