Women's Basketball Selected As Favorite In ECC Preseason Poll
CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Oct. 14, 2010) – C.W. Post was selected as the preseason favorite as the East Coast Conference released its 2010-11 preseason poll, as voted on by the conference head coaches. Senior guard Janea Aiken (St. Albans, N.Y.) was tabbed the Preseason Player of the Year.
C.W. Post garnered 58 points and five first-place votes to lead the field of eight teams. Molloy was second with 48 points and two first-place votes, followed by St. Thomas Aquinas, Dowling, Queens, Bridgeport, NYIT and Mercy.
Aiken is the reigning ECC and ECAC Player of the Year after leading the conference in points with 16.6 a game.
C.W. Post finished with a 20-9 overall record and 14-7 conference mark last season and returns with its top two scorers in Aiken and junior guard Felicia Joyner (Lindenhurst, N.Y.), who averaged 12.4. The Pioneers open the new season on Nov. 13 against UMass Lowell at the American International tournament.
