Ostapow Registers Triple-Double As Volleyball Battles Saint Rose To 3-2 Victory

ALBANY, N.Y. (Sept. 19, 2009) – The C.W. Post volleyball team endured an hour and 47 minute match against Saint Rose but came away with a 3-2 non-conference victory Saturday afternoon at Nolan Gymnasium. Junior setter Amanda Ostapow (East Setauket, N.Y.) registered a triple-double with 10 kills, 33 assists and 10 digs. The match scores were 16-25, 26-24, 25-14, 16-25, 15-9.
The Pioneers improve to 5-7 overall while the Golden Knights slip to 8-3.
Junior outside hitter Marilena Guadagnini (Huntington Beach, Calif.) registered a match-high 16 kills to pace the Pioneers. Junior outside hitter Lauren Brown (Mount Gilead, N.C.) added 10 kills and eight digs along with six block assists and a block solo.
Senior rightside hitter Jaclyn Griffin (Glen Mills, Pa.) led the Golden Knights with 11 kills in the match and added a block solo and block assist on defense. Sophomore setter Theresa Staulo (Newton, Mass.) recorded 41 assists.
The Pioneers quickly took control of things in the tie-breaking fifth set and built upon their lead via a 5-0 run to close out the match for the win.
C.W. Post returns to action Tuesday evening for an East Coast Conference matchup at Queens College at 7 p.m.
