Women's Basketball Selected Fifth In ECC Preseason Poll
CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Nov. 4, 2009) – The C.W. Post women's basketball team was picked finish fourth in the East Coast Conference preseason coaches poll that was released Wednesday afternoon.
Dowling College topped the list with four first-place votes to finish with 57 points while Molloy College received two first-place votes to finish with 49 points. 2008-09 ECC Champion Queens College also received a first-place vote and was third with 46 points. The University of Bridgeport was fifth with a first-place vote and 39 points, followed by St. Thomas Aquinas (26), Mercy College (14) and New York Institute of Technology (12).
Dowling senior guard Christie Marrone was voted the preseason Player of the Year by the coaches.
The Pioneers, who completed the 2008-09 season with a 13-14 overrall record and 10-8 mark in conference play, open their season on Nov. 16 when they host Long Island rival and former ECC foe Adelphi University at 5 p.m. in the Pratt Recreation Center.
