The Pioneers got off to a quick start and led 11-3 after
Kevin Spann's lay-up. But a timeout by Queens calmed the Knights, and they answered with a 10-2 run to tie the game at 13-all with 11:48 remaining in the half. The game remained tight as the teams traded baskets, and with 4:05 to play, a Martin Singleton jumper tied the score for the seventh time at 29-29. However, a quick 11-3 run pushed the Pioneers to an eight points lead, 40-32, with 39 seconds remaining on the clock. A trey by Mike Liander pulled Queens to within three, but
Nick Carter (Huntington Station, N.Y.) answered right back with a three of his own with two seconds remaining in the half to give the Pioneers a 6 point lead going into halftime, 43-37.
The Pioneers came roaring out of the halftime break and scored 12 unanswered points to push their lead to 18 points before Queens even scored its first bucket of the half. The rest of the game saw the lead float between 18 and 22 points as the 57% Pioneer second-half shooting was too much for the Knights to handle, and C.W. Post coasted to the 20 point victory.
Macklin scored a game-high 18 points to pace the Pioneers, and also grabbed 11 rebounds. Macklin was a perfect 8-for-8 from the floor including a 3-for-3 effort from behind the arc.
Kenny Burkes (Suitland, Md.)chipped in with 17 points including 11 in the first half. Carter scored 15 points, and Schmidt added 14 points and a game-high 12 assists.
Lyndon Daniel (St. George's, Grenada) had an excellent game on the glass, pulling down 11 boards and adding eight points and two blocks.
Khaleef Allicott led the Queens scoring effort with 11 points, respectively.
The Pioneers shot 56.9% (33-of-58) for the game, and hit 6-of-18(33.3%) from three-point range. They out-rebounded the Knights by a 44-29 edge, and held a 46-22 advantage in the paint.
