Bloomfield Overcomes Women's Basketball, 65-64

Bloomfield College overcame a 41-21 deficit at the half to overcome C.W. Post, 65-64, in non-conference women's basketball action Saturday afternoon at the Pratt Recreation Center.
 
Bloomfield improves to 5-5 overall while C.W. Post slips to 4-6 overall.
 
Bloomfield shot .347 (25 of 72) from field goal range, including 5-for-16 beyond the arc in the game and forced the Pioneers to commit 22 turnovers. C.W. Post completed the game shooting .421 (24 of 57). Both teams pulled 42 rebounds off the glass.
 
Forward Nichole Hawkins led the Deacons with 18 points on 7-for-19 shooting from the field. 
 
The Pioneers started the game on a 15-0 run before the Deacons score their first basket via a three-point field goal from senior guard Renee Vales at 14:13. C.W. Post gradually increased its lead throughout the remainder of the half and headed for the locker room with a 41-21 lead at the break. 
 
Freshman guard Felicia Joyner (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) led the Pioneer offense with 12 points while junior guard Gina Catherall (Bayside, N.Y.) chipped in 11 points.
 
C.W. Post held its opponent to a .229 (8 of 35) shooting percentage in the first half.
 
In the second half, the Deacons gained ground on the Pioneers using a 14-2 run to cut the lead down to nine (44-35) with 14:16 on the clock. C.W. Post built its lead back up to double-figures after a made three-pointer from Catherall at 10:46. 
 
Bloomfield's Robyn Burton swished a trey at 7:13 that began a 10-0 Deacon run that saw the visiting team trail by just one (58-57) with 5:57 remaining. 
 
After two tie ups, Bloomfield took its first lead in the game on a layup from freshman guard Vanessa Lamison at 2:09.
 
C.W. Post's Noelle Pawlicki (Staten Island, N.Y.) attempted a three-pointer with four seconds remaining but the basket took a high bounce off the rim to end the game. 
 
Burton was second in scoring for the Deacons with 13 points while junior forward Emily Horrocks added 11 points. McDaniel and Lamison each had 10 points.
 
Catherall led the Pioneers with 18 points while junior guard Jasmine Moore (Bronx, N.Y.) chipped in 14 points. Joyner added 13 and Pawlicki registered 11 points. Sophomore forward Alyssa Lombardi (New Fairfield, Conn.) cleaned up on the glass with 14 rebounds.
 
C.W. Post is back in action on Jan. 10 when it hosts East Coast Conference foe Concordia College (N.Y.) at 1:30 p.m.
