No. 7 Field Hockey Drops 8-1 Contest to No. 2 Bloomsburg

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. (Sept 27, 2008) - Jamie Vanartsdalen and Amanda Riley scored two goals each to lead No. 2 Bloomsburg to a 8-1 win over seventh-ranked field hockey on Saturday afternoon.
Scoring began early for the Huskies when Ashley Miller scored a goal one minute and nine seconds into the game. The Huskies would go on to score three more goals in the opening 35 minutes of play.
Four goals after the half gave the Huskies an 8-0 lead over the Pioneers, who finally got on the board in the 62nd minute, as sophomore forward Amanda Nann (Hamburg, N.J.) scored an unassisted goal to avoid the shutout.
Sophomore goalkeeper Cortney Colern (Barker, N.Y.) made five saves in the cage for the Pioneers, who were outshot by a 15-2 count and saw the Huskies also own a 4-2 advantage in penalty corners.
The Pioneers are off until next Saturday, October 4, as they take on Millersville University in another PSAC matchup. The home game will start at 1 p.m.
