Smith Added To Women's Basketball Staff
C.W. Post women's basketball head coach
Deirdre Moore has announced a new addition to her coaching staff for the upcoming 2008-2009 season.
Vanessa Smith, a seven-year assistant of the New York Institute of Technology women's basketball program, will join Moore on the sidelines as an assistant coach.
“I am very happy to have Vanessa join the women's basketball staff,” said Moore. “She is respected among her colleagues and has a great rapport with players. Having known Vanessa for the past five years, I have always found her to be honest, hard-working, and trustworthy.”
Smith joins C.W. Post after seven seasons as an assistant coach at NYIT where she led defensive instruction and drills, and scouted and recruited for head coach Mike Guidone.
A former two-sport athlete at NYIT, Smith participated in both basketball and track and field. After being granted a basketball scholarship in her junior year, Smith made an immediate impact as a starter for the remainder of her career.
The new assistant graduated from NYIT in May of 2000 with a B.S. in Behavioral Sciences – Psychology. She later completed her M.P.S. in Human Relations – Clinical Counseling in 2003.
