Offense Powers Saint Rose Past Women's Basketball, 79-67

ALBANY, N.Y. (Dec. 20, 2008) – Five players scored in double figures to lead Saint Rose past C.W Post, 79-67, in a non-conference women's basketball contest Saturday afternoon at Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium.
The Golden Knights improve to 7-4 overall while C.W. Post slips to 4-5 overall.
Saint Rose shot .490 (24 of 49) from field goal range and went 22-for-24 at the charity stripe while holding a 37-29 advantage on the glass. C.W. Post completed the game shooting .397 (25 of 63) and was 11-for-12 in free throws.
Senior guard Dana Brown led the Golden Knights with 18 points, including a perfect 8-for-8 at the free throw line. Senior forward Ashley Anderson chipped in 14 points and pulled down six rebounds while adding five assists, two blocks and two steals toward the cause.
The teams exchanged the lead six times throughout the first half and neither team led by more than a handful through the first fifteen minutes of play.
With a 31-30 lead with 3:26 remaining, senior center Lauren Revesz swished a lay-up that started an 11-4 run for the Golden Knights and lasted until the break. Saint Rose took a 44-34 lead at the half.
Brown amassed 10 points in the half for Saint Rose, including two three-pointers for Saint Rose. Sophomore guard Emily Hall (Montclair, N.J.) led the Pioneers with 11 points, including three three-point field goals in the first half.
Saint Rose held its lead throughout the second stanza and led by as many as 17 points (53-36) as the Golden Knights continued shooting at a .478 clip.
C.W. Post cut the lead down to single digits when junior guard Gina Catherall (Bayside, N.Y.) poured in a three-pointer at 3:47. But the Golden Knights answered with a jumper from junior guard Elizabeth Buckley at 3:20.
Catherall finished the game leading the Pioneers with 15 points on 6 of 14 shooting while Hall and freshman guard Felicia Joyner (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) each tallied 11 points.
C.W. Post is back in action Jan. 3 when it hosts a non-conference tilt against Bloomfield College at the Pratt Recreation Center at 2 p.m.
