Women's Basketball Improves To 2-0 With 82-68 Win Over Bloomsburg

BLOOMSBURG, Pa.
(Nov. 16, 2008) – Five players registered double figures in scoring as C.W. Post past Bloomsburg University, 82-68, in the final game of the Patriot Inn Classic women's basketball tournament.
 
C.W. Post improves to 2-0 with the win while Bloomsburg splits it record at 1-1. The last time the Pioneers started with a 2-0 record was in 2003-04 when the Pioneers began with a 3-0 mark. 
 
Senior forward Whitney Murrer (Richmond, Va.) scored 19 points and pulled down seven rebounds with two steals while freshman guard Felicia Joyner (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) added 18 points with five rebounds and two steals.
 
The Pioneers shot 30 of 62 (.484) from the field and held a 42-32 advantage in rebounds. 
 
C.W. Post took control of the game early on when junior guard Gina Catherall (Bayside, N.Y.) swished a 3-point field goal at 11:40 that sparked an 11-2 run and gave the visiting team a 29-16 lead.
 
The Pioneers continued scoring through the remainder of the half and led by as many as 18 points (41-23). At the break, they held a 41-24 lead.
 
Murrer scored 12 of her points in the second half, shooting 6-for-7 from the floor as the Pioneers maintained a double-digit lead for the remainder of the game.
 
The Huskies were able to score 19 points off 14 Pioneer miscues in the second half.
 
Sophomore guard Emily Hall (Montclair, N.J.) dished out seven assists for the Pioneers.
 
Senior center Colleen Kegerreis led all scorers with 25 points, shooting 9 of 16 from the field and pulling down nine rebounds for Bloomsburg.
 
C.W. Post will continue non-conference play at Holy Family University on Nov. 22 at 2 p.m.
