No. 10 Field Hockey Falls to No. 5 Kutztown, 6-2

KUTZTOWN, Pa. (Oct. 14, 2008) - Amanda Nann (Hamburg, N.J.) and
Kathryn Godshalk (Hilton, N.Y.) scored unassisted goals but the C.W. Post Pioneers could not overcome six Kutztown goals as they fell to the Golden Bears, 6-2, on Tuesday evening.
The loss gives C.W. Post an 8-6 overall record and a 2-4 record in the PSAC East Division. Kutztown improves to 13-3 and 5-2 in the East Division.
Abbey Sheeler gave Kutztown a 1-0 lead 4:37 into the game, dribbling all the way from midfield into the circle and scoring unassisted.
Nann tied the game at 1-1 at the 14:44 mark, beating the goalie one-on-one.
However, Kutztown struck twice in less than 20 seconds to break push the Golden Bear lead to 3-1. Julie Rosenkaimer scored off a pass from Holly Hubbard at 30:44, then Carrie Healey scored off a pass from Rosenkaimer at 31:02 for a 3-1 lead.
Kutztown stretched its edge with the first of Lauren Solley's markers at the 41:00 mark. Lyndsay Butler and Solley capped the Kutztown scoring, pushing the lead to 6-1.
Godshalk scored for the Pioneers in the 71st minute, off a rebound from the goalie pads, to make the score 6-2.
Sophomore keeper
Cortney Colern (Barker, N.Y.) made nine saves in goal for the Pioneers.
C.W. Post takes on Seton Hill at home on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 2 p.m.
