A fixture in the LIU Post Department of Athletics for three decades, Bob Sugar begins his 28th season as the Pioneers' equipment manager.
Sugar was the assistant equipment manager and director of scheduling for LIU Post between 1988-91, before inheriting the top equipment manager position after school legend Al Venturino retired. He was a graduate assistant at the school from 1985-88, and served as a student assistant during his four-year tenure as an undergraduate at the Brookville, N.Y. school.
A resident of Glen Cove, N.Y., Sugar was an offensive line graduate assistant coach for the football team during the 1985 season, and later served as an assistant softball coach during the 1988 campaign. He earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from LIU Post in 1985 and later received a master's degree from the school in 1989.
Sugar and his wife Maria currently reside in Glen Cove. He is a certified athletic equipment manager with the Athletic Equipment Manager's Association (AEMA).
