Basimah Thompson completed her seventh season alongside Coach Moore’s on the Women's Basketball staff. In that capacity, she develops pre-season, postseason, and summer workouts, while overseeing the recruiting and player development of the Pioneers' backcourt.
She graduated in May 2008 from LIU Post with a B.S. in Physical Education. A three-year captain, Thompson garnered numerous honors during her time in a Pioneer uniform. She was named NYCAC’s Rookie of the Year during her freshman year at LIU Post. Thompson was also named to the 2006 Preseason ECC Women’s Basketball squad and All-NYCAC Second Team in 2005-06. She was an All-East Coast Conference Third Team selection following both her junior and senior year.
Thompson earned herself a spot on numerous all-time record lists for LIU Post. She currently holds the tenth place spot on the all-time points list, tallying 1,116 during her four year run. Thompson scored her 1,000th point during an 82-42 win over Concordia College (N.Y.) her senior year. She is also listed as fourth in school history for career assists (404) and seventh for career steals (255).
Thompson will use her skills to be the primary guard coach for the Pioneers. She will also be responsible for monitoring the academic progress of freshmen and alumni relations.
Thompson, who resides in Oakland Gardens, N.Y., is currently pursuing her master’s degree in Physical Education from Queens College.
