Darrel Bielawski completed his first season as Head Coach of the LIU Post Women's Tennis Team with the most wins since 2011. The Pioneers started the year with four wins in their first five conference matches, and eventually earned a 7-6 record and a berth in the East Coast Conference Tournament. Under the direction of Bielawski, junior Didi Fatchikova earned All-ECC First Team praise, while freshman Meagan Byrne was named a Rookie of the Week during the season.
Bielawski was tabbed by LIU Post Director of Athletics and Recreation Bryan Collins to lead the women's tennis program on July 21, 2014.
Bielawski comes to the Pioneers with 25 years of experience as a competitive player, teaching professional and program director in the tennis field.
He is a former Top-5 junior player in the ETA who competed against future professionals, including Andy Roddick and Justin Gimelstob.
Bielawski graduated from Schenectady High School in 1997 and went on to play tennis at Division I Marist. He is currently a Senior Teaching Professional at GO! Tennis at North Shore Racquets Club in Bayside and the Head Tennis Professional at North Hills Country Club in Manhasset.
Bielawski currently resides in New York, N.Y.
